Until the next trip

On the road for home and should reach there before midnight unless Buddy has to stop for a rest or an over nighter.  We usually never drive at night, I always like to reach a campground before dusk.  It will be nice to have a day at home before the work week begins.

Our overall trip has been fun and mostly relaxing.  It is something we both needed.  We were somewhat disappointed in the Keys,  mostly because we expected many, many beaches and warmer weather and we didn't get either one.  We kept records of the RV parks we visited so maybe the next trip won't be so confusing and we can make reservation way ahead of time.

We just stopped in Perry, Georgia for fueling.  It's $3.50 for diesel.  I got me a cappicheno (sp?) so I could help keep Buddy awake.

Final day in Florida

Still a cold, breeze day. Not good boating weather.  Buddy and I decided to ride up A1A to Marathon, Florida and visit a RV Resort that is there.  This is the one which I cancelled before cause I didn't know where I was.  It is a very clean and nice park.  A big one - over 500 sites.  Most of them are permanent residence.  They have three swimming pools, 2 tennis courts, a club house and across the street is the beach.  Will put this one down for a future stay.  On our return route back to Vero, I retreived my phone and turned on the nagivator.  I wanted to find a bar on the water that was off the beaten path.  It only took two U-turns, but we found it.  It was called "Squid Lips" and its at a marina on the Indian River.  Very old and quite the local hangout.  Enjoyed a few colds ones, a snack and back on the road.

Had dinner at the Riverbend on the Indian River in Vero.  Wow, was it ever soooo crowded.  Definitely happy hour.  We managed to get a table for dinner and enjoyed some clams, steak and a yummy wedge salad.

We drove back to Port St. Lucie to get ready for our departure back home.  We'll try to get an early start, but who knows.  Since a snow storm is headed home, we best get back as quick as possible.

A Stormy Day!

Change of plans today, well at least for the beginning of it.  It's very stormy with high winds and hail near by.  We'll just stayed put for awhile until the dinner hour.  The weather should clear by mid afternoon.

The rain has lasted for awhile, so I decided I needed to go for a nail/pedicure day at the local salon.  Spend three hours there.  A laided back kind of day.

We meet our friends, Shelby and Perk for dinner at a local restaurant in Vero.  They have a beautiful condo on the Indian River.  We dined at at place called "Joey's".  Good food, good wine and good company.  Was a plesant evening with such wonderful folks.

Not sure what tomorrow will hold.  I hope that it is a sunny and a beautiful day.  We do have to start thinking about the trip home.

Vero Beach

Awoke to a beautiful day in Vero Beach Florida.  Enjoyed a wonderful breakfast and enjoyed some shopping in downtown Vero.  Looking for a new bathing suit for when I vacation in Jamaica in Feburary.  Lovin this area alot.  It is so peaceful.  Spent some time on the beach today, but it was a little chilly.  It's been a quite and peaceful day with my sweetie.

Tomorrow we'll take a boat ride on the Indian River and have lunch at the Riverside Marine.  Looking forward to catching up with some special folks in Vero tomorrow night.  Perk and Shelby are such sweethearts.  Buddy built their Sapphire Valley home a few years back and we try to stay in touch with each other when we can.  Their home was featured in the Log Home Magazine back in 2005.

Port Saint Lucie, Florida

Awoke to a partly cloudy day, but anticipated a warm one.  Our friend, Michael had asked us to come spend some time with him the rest of the week.  We packed up a few things and threw them in the jeep and we off to Vero Beach we went.  Along the way I wanted to find a place on the water for lunch so I got out my GPS and found a seafood restaurant called "Lobster Shanty".  It was only 7 mins away from us at this point.  Once we pulled in, I realized we had eaten here before.  Great restaurant.

We had a nice afternoon visiting and met some more friends at a steak house later.  It's time to turn in, at least for me, Buddy watching football.

So this is traveling day.....

Of course, I wanted to sleep in but we had to get going.  Really didn't have to far to drive.  Only going 150 miles and 5 toll roads.  Got away around 10 am and decided to travel the Florida Turnpike to reach our designation in Port Saint Lucie.  Wasn't a bad drive and  no traffic problems.

As we were approching the St. Lucie area I found another RV Resort that was on the Atlantic in Melbourne.  It was only another hour away and we decided to call and book.  At least it would be close to the beach.   I called and was able to get on the river side of the park for the week.  Great!

For some reason, as we were to enter the area to exit for Melbourne, things got confusing.  Buddy wasn't feeling well and I was nervous about where we were going.   Okay....Exit here at Point Saint Lucie and we're staying at our originial location at Port St. Lucie RV Park.  We arrived, Buddy absoulting dieing to releive himself and didn't realize that we were not at another location in Port St. Lucie that he thought we were going.  I screwed up again.  It's a nice park, but not the Resort we expected.

We signed in explaining that Buddy wasn't feeling well and we didn't know how long we   were going to stay.  Very dispointing, but we made the best of it.  After setting up we called our friend, Michael, who lived nearby and was able to catch up to him for dinner.  Dined at a local Itailian Restaurant.  Yum!

Arranged to catch back up with our friend the next day and decided to just stay put at the RV park for the rest of the week.

Last Day in Key Largo

Up and Adam......that I was.  Buddy in slow gear.  I figured since this was our last day in this area, I would get going.  Had stopped and picked up stuff for another picnic and went back to the State Park.  Since this was a weekend, it was rather crowded but I didn't care.  The sun was out and we found a nice area on the beach where I could sun and Buddy could sit under the cononuts trees.  (I warned him that one of the cononuts might fall.)

I finished another book by Glenn Beck called "The Chrismtas Sweater" before we were ready to leave for a cold drink and snack.  I remembered the marina and restaurant called "Snookers" and we returned there for awhile before heading back to the RV for a rest.  I wanted to go back out for the evening, so we had to take a break.

Dinner was very nice.  We went back to the place that has the glass bottom bar.  The band again wasn't that great.  Both Buddy and I thought that Russ, Rodney and Travis would enjoy playing at this place and the crowd would love them.

New Year's Eve

During the day we went to John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park.  Our luck, the glass bottom boats nor the skorling boats were going out due to high winds.  We found a place on the beach and stayed a bit before the crowds started arriving.  The temperature has finally reached 79 degrees.  Decided to return to RV and rest before the evening.

Found a place to party the night before at The Pilot House.  Very cool place.  Has glass on the floor so you can see the fish.  Dinner consisted of Lobster Bisque, wedge salad, macamadine encrusted shrimp, prime rib with lobster tail and a double chocolate cake.  Enjoy the complimentary champagne that came with it.

The band was okay, mostly rock n' roll but not very good.  Kind of got boring.  Couldn't even dance to it.  (not even after a few buds)

To bed by 10 then to be awaken to fire works at New Years!

Discover the Beach

Anne's Beach is on the oceanside of Islamorado.  It has a boardwalk and picnic area.  If you get there early you can get a quite little hide away place on the small beach area.  We finally got luckie and enjoy most of the day suning and reading.  Packed a picnic lunch of fried chicken, BQ chips and veggies....oh yeah, had my little cooler of Bud Light with me.

It was a pleasant day and returned to camp to catch the sunset and then went out exploring the clubs for New Year's Eve Dinner.
